Ensiferum isn't Finland's most prevalent or very much adored melodic viking metal band, yet they unquestionably are a band whose legacy can't be disregarded. For me, they altered the music I was tuning in to in 2001 with their monstrous self-titled introduction Ensiferum, which took Children of Bodom and made it fruitier.
Obviously, the collection opens with an introduction ("March of War") utilizing acoustic instruments and society tunes; it's a fairly delightful interpretation that summons the long time past days, however I don't think it sounds exceptionally war-like; more like the soundtrack to a natural medieval town where everyone's continuing on ahead, such as trucking individuals' crap far from the primary lane. Not saying the introduction is poop, mind you, but rather medieval life was shitty and people metal groups have a tendency to celebrate these long gone ages, and glorification is exactly the word that strikes a chord when the primary appropriate track, "Axe Of Judgment" commences; the music is affected, notwithstanding inspiring, the sort of music that makes you need to raise your sword and blast your head.
